Biography:
Prof. Hugo Wai Leung Mak is currently a Visiting Faculty at HKUST and a Lecturer at CUHK. He is also a Junior Fellow of The Academy of Education Excellence (AEE). His core research interests include Computational Mathematics and Data Science, Remote Sensing, Geospatial Algorithmic Development, Satellite Informatics and Imaging, Data Assimilation, as well as Smart and Sustainable City Development. He has acquired extensive experience as a guest editor of numerous journals related to Remote Sensing Applications and Geoinformatics, as an organizing and scientific committee member of different academic conferences and science education events, and has actively participated in several international satellite missions related to environmental informatics, like GEMS and CINDI-3. Some of his recent highlighted awards and honors include: The 14th Epsilon Fund Award (2019); School of Science Postgraduate Research Excellence Award, HKUST (2019); Departmental Research Output Prize, HKU (2021); Young Scientist of the 1st Inaugural Hong Kong Laureate Forum (2023); Remote Sensing Outstanding Reviewer Award (2024); AEE Junior Fellow (2025). He is also the recipient of many Travel Grant Awards from 2016 onwards, and has maintained close connections and collaborations with industries, NGOs and institutions for ongoing practical research projects.

With extensive expertise in educational technologies, he is dedicated to advancing STEM education and curriculum development. Dr. Singh teaches a wide range of subjects, including STEM, artificial intelligence, data mining, and general education courses, showcasing his versatility and depth of knowledge. His interdisciplinary research spans pure sciences and educational technologies, demonstrated by his publications in prestigious journals on Radiation Physics and his present research on artificial intelligence(AI), virtual reality (VR), and Metaverse technologies, which positions him as a leader in integrating innovation within educational settings.

Biography:
Dr. Liangqiong Qu is an Assistant Professor at the School of Computing and Data Science, the University of Hong Kong. Before joining HKU, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her research interests span the area of artificial intelligence, federated learning and medical imaging processing. Her research results have been published in 2 book chapters, and 50 peer-reviewed articles including top-tier venues such as CVPR, ICLR, PNAS, MedIA, TMI, TIP, Nature Method, Nature Machine Intelligence. She has received the Best Paper Award at the Conference on Health, Inference, and Learning (CHIL) 2023, and was also awarded the Natural Science Academic Achievement Award of Liaoning Province (1st). She also served as an Area Chair or Senior Program Committee Member for top-tier conferences such as MICCAI, CVPR, and ICLR.

Dr. Mu-Jiang-Shan Wang is an Assistant Professor at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Vice President of R&D at Shenzhen Kaihong Digital Industry Development Co., Ltd. Specializing in AI and computer science, his/her research spans deep learning (graph neural networks), combinatorics, graph theory, and algorithm design, with applications in smart cities, healthcare, and the KaiHongAIOS intelligent operating system. He/she has published 34 papers (24 as first/corresponding author), ranking in the top 1% in combinatorics and top 3% in computer science globally. Published in journals like The Computer Journal and Theoretical Computer Science. Leads NSFC-funded projects, serves as guest editor for Q2 journals, and reviews for AMS/zbMATH.
